Washington Crossing Black Walnut #I;ATH11044
I made this pen from a Black Walnut tree at Washington Crossing growing near the spot where Washington’s men, horses, and cannon were loading into boats to cross the dangerous ice filled Delaware river on that famous Christmas night, in preparation for the successful surprise attack in the 1st Battle of Trenton. This led to the Ten Crucial Days that rekindled the struggle of the failing American Revolution.
This pen is light sap wood with a smear of dark heart wood at the top and some nice chatoyance. The tree was located at 40°17'49.96"N, 74°52'25.19"W.
